M.I.A back to blog

Hi everyone, I have not been around a lot online as i have been busy with wedding preparations for my son's wedding on Nov 12th. I have been doing a little crafting when i could though and have been creating Christmas cards. I finally got around to taking pictures of the cards and so came for a catch up in blogland.

I hope everyone is doing well. I am sorry i have been a bit lapse in my blogging but i will catch up properly after the wedding. At the moment i just can not relax.
Here are the makes i have done for Christmas. They are each completely different with different techniques used. As always my crafting is chaos lol.

Back in action

Its been a difficult time recently with a nasty flu type bug descending on our household and also with a fight for care rights for my mam with Alzheimers. Me and my sister are determined to get that one sorted out.
Yesterday though, i was feeling well enough to create these little Halloween witch ATC's.

  • collaged the background with various scraps.
  • Added inks
  • Sprayed with ink dots
  • Created crackle over the collaged backgrounds using acrylic paints and crackle glaze.
  • Stamped a little girl by Santoro stamps
  • Coloured her with Marco refine pencils and fine liners. Then fussy cut her and edged with black to hide the white edges.
  • Hand drew the little witch hats onto patterned paper and cut out.
  • put together ATC and finished off with pens etc.

Tuesday musings and art

I have had an arty crafty week, see  that below.  Also been doing lots of digital stuff for my other blog.

At home i have been visiting mam more often as she is not doing so well, losing weight and last week hallucinating. The doctor is looking into it. Its hard to get to the bottom of things with someone that has dementia. All we can do is keep on loving her and doing our best to look after her.

Sam and i are going away this weekend to Crimdon Dene caravan park for a few days. We are also taking Sams sister and her partner and our little Jojo. We have not had a break or holiday for a long time so it will be a welcome break.

Ok  here is the creative stuff ...

Atc's are stamped and altered images, I can't just stamp, i like to make them my own lol. Lots of paints, pens and inks used as well as scraps of papers and some vintage book text. I really enjoyed making them.

Below is a greeting  card i made too.

Its been an extremely warm week this week. I have sat in front of a room fan whenever the opportunity presented itself. Its also been a very productive and creative week. I have turned my hand back to an old favourite of mine 'ATC'S. I had forgotten how fun they are to make. Its been a messy, painty but extremely satisfactory time. Below are the results of this  (don't forget the sunglasses ! )

I have also been digitally  creative over at my other blog  Dezinaworld15  Where i have been creating and posting Free and Original images for everyone to use.

A brand new Autumn card finished today. I was in the mood for autumnal colours. The card is white and brown cardstock with 5 patterned coordinating papers cut into the shapes and glued down on cream card then mounted onto the brown.. Then i used another paper on the rectangle and mounted that onto the brown card. I stamped the images of leaves and greeting and frame, coloured all with markers and dabbed the leaves with distress inks in rusty hinge and green using corner of a baby wipe. I coloured the die cut butterfly the same way and assembled.

Have a happy Monday everyone.

Hello everyone. Well this week has been hectic, as will the rest of this month be. Two of my grandchildren had birthdays this week. Joshua who is 13 and Riley who is 2 years old today. Also coming up this week are my grandchildren Ethan (15) and Sammy (8) . We will be going away for a few days later in the month too. But as crafters usually do, I am busy crafting and creating both physically and digitally as i go from day to day.
Over at my Dezinaworld Blog I have just posted my latest digital images that i created as free downloads. So do pop over if you want to snag a few/.

I made this card yesterday too. The stamps are Stampers anonymous and also a set of butterflies i have in a tin (wood mounted ) I don't know who they are by as they are old ones. The background is blue cardstock which i stamped the butterflies and distress dot background onto. I embossed the butterflies with black embossing powder and then painted the insides of them with neat bleach to lighten the cardstock so i could colour onto it. I used Spectrum  Noir pens and a white Sharpie paint pen. Added the stamped sentiment and that was it.

I would like to enter this one into the Brown Sugar Challenge Blog - Anything goes

Have a fab weekend all.

Chunky Monkey Ice-cream

Hi all, well its been a funny kind of week for me. Full of good intentions but nothing much achieved. I am good with that. Life is like that sometimes and we just have to go with the flow.
We managed to get some painting done and finished the cabinets in the bedroom though.

Something strange did happen though. Yesterday,  I asked Sam to put a c d on for a little background music.  He asked what i wanted i said 'You choose'. He put on a country mix and the first song came on ' Rose garden by Lynn Anderson' Dad and I used to sing this together. The song that followed was also one of Dads fave songs. 'Ghost riders in the sky' ..... Weird you may think ? Well a few minutes later Sam was moving a unit in the hallway to clear behind it and .... this was found behind it. " Hello Dad, we miss and love you "

I am feeling creative but nothing much is being produced. My sister in law is here for the weekend so maybe after the weekend i may actually get something creative done.

My mind is turning to losing some pounds (much needed ) and so i am going to start collecting a few nice recipes to keep the job of weight loss a little more pleasant and less boring. Here is one i found today. Chunky Monkey Ice cream ... Love that idea. Here is a link to the blog  page Chunky Monkey Ice-cream    I will definitely be trying this one. My plan is to plan out some foods and recipes. Buy and make them all, Freeze and then begin. .... We will see how that goes . My plans do not always go to plan lol.

Hope everyone has a magical weekend

Saturday 27th August

Hi all. It has been a while since i updated this blog so i am here with a catch up really. The year is fast disappearing and i feel Christmas coming on. I will begin  making cards for that soon and have already collected a lot of gifts for Christmas. You can guess i still won't be done when Christmas is upon us. X factor begins now, that always makes me think of Christmas as it runs until then.
This month has been very busy. We bought a brand new cooker as the old one kept smoking badly and the temp in the oven was rubbish. So the new one has been installed by hubby yesterday.

We also got new single beds as I have sleeping issues and poor hubby can not get any kip with my restless leg syndrome combined with my breathing and coughing difficulties due to the COPD. This is making a huge difference already. Hubby is a happy bunny bless him and even our little furball seems to like swapping over  beds lol.

We stayed with my sister-in-law for a few days last week which made a nice change too.
I am looking forward to doing some furniture alterations this winter as well as the usual crafting. I have some drawers and some small tables to have fun with. This will be a first for me. :) Also looking forward to creating some abstract canvas paintings.

Have a great weekend and week ahead everyone. I leave you with some fun music to bring back memories ...

Happy Thursday

The weather seems to have dulled today but its still warm. Today I really do not feel like being too energetic. I feel a bit drained so i think its time to take it easy. I will hopefully get a little project done for fun though as i still feel crafty.

Tomorrow i will be busy with appointments and also i have my free craft afternoon tomorrow. Each Friday i hold a craft session using my own stash for the elderly people in the area , its good fun and everyone is welcome. We all do the things we want to do personally and drink lots of tea and chat.

I have added a new category for 'patterns' over at my Dezinaworld blog. Showing one here below. All the images on my other blog are free so if you want any for any reason, go check it out  HERE   All single images are easy to get just right click on the image and save to your computer. Thanks for reading. Have a beautiful day today

New Cooker

Today is a shopping day. One of the items i need to shop for is a brand new electric cooker. We have  a very small apartment/flat and so i have to make sure that we buy a suitable standard sized cooker.
One of the things i have learned over time is that when you need to buy an item that will last for a good long time, you need to make no compromises lightly.

You know what you want, you know what features you want, so go and buy it that way. If not, you may regret the purchase and it may end up being a costly mistake. You would never believe how long it took me to learn that and being short of money often made me compromise.  So with that in mind, i shall venture out to buy a new cooker.

Have you always known that or has age and experience taught you this or other lessons like this one ?

A New Journey

June 14th 2016 I reached the age of 57. Late middle age (well that's how i see it  )I have had many trials and tribulations in my years as we all have and the journey has taught me many things over that time. But I wanted to begin a new journey, one beginning now. I want to blog about this journey, about my thoughts, my likes, dislikes, Interests, fun, happiness and sadness. I want to blog my journey beyond aged fifty seven and beyond. (hence the title )

I hope that anyone happening upon this new blog of mine, will find it fun, interesting, varied and sometimes totally off the wall. You can expect to see a diversity of posts as that is 'me' I love to post random things, random thoughts, feelings, revelations, personal thoughts, maybe a quiz or some music or news or art, or poetry (yes i sometimes write ) or quotes that mean something to me, or just funny posts or video's that make me smile.I will be thrilled if anyone wants to join my journey in 57 beyond and all comments will mean the world to me.

Thanks for reading,
June x
